Partridge Shooting at El Despeñadero, Toledo
Two thousand hectares in Toledo province, and the smallest ground we work with in Spain — chosen for that, not in spite of it. El Despeñadero is primarily a driven red-legged partridge estate, and its character comes from the fall of the land rather than from anything built.

A smaller finca run for one quarry can be managed intensively. Every drive is known, every wind direction has a plan, and the keepers can read the ground far more precisely than is possible across twenty thousand hectares.
The name means “the precipice”, and the ground earns it: the estate takes its character from a sharp break of slope, which is exactly the feature that produces high, fast birds without needing artificial staging.
This suits a smaller party well — one team, one estate, no sense of sharing the ground with anybody else.
The Value of our Shooting Package — El Despeñadero
What a fully inclusive package covers here — full board on the estate in the staffed hacienda, all wines, spirits and soft drinks, return transfers from Madrid-Barajas, and ammunition, Spanish gun and hunting licences — with the point that overage is counted per gun, so each gun pays only for the birds it has shot.

How a Spanish Driven Day Runs
Driven Partridge shoots in Spain differ slightly from the UK in the manner that the day is conducted. A typical day consists of 4 or 5 drives and as the days are still quite long the day can operate in a relaxed but professional manner. Tapas will be taken after 2 drives (and after drive 4 on a 5 drive day) Lunch will be at the days end so there is no rush at all. The birds are fast and furious and test even the best guns. The weather is normally good so all can be Al-Fresco. You are always supplied with a loader or “stuffer” who carries all you gear and generally looks after you, this all combines to give you an overall most enjoyable experience.
