Pheasant Shooting
This page is a signpost. It sets out the two countries in which we arrange driven pheasant, and their seasons, so you can go straight to the one you want: pheasant shooting in Scotland or pheasant shooting in England.
| Where | Quarry | Date From | Date To |
| Scotland | Pheasant | 1st October | 1st February |
| England | Pheasant | 1st October | 1st February |
The statutory season is the same either side of the border, so the choice is about the ground and the arrangements rather than the dates. One practical difference: a visitor bringing a shotgun to Scotland needs a Police Scotland visitor permit, currently £48 per visitor or £240 for a group application. That, the way days are priced and what a bag costs are set out on the Scotland page.

From the first of October until the end of January, pheasants are the mainstay of many estates because they offer a great sporting challenge — high birds off a bank or a valley side, or traditional driven days over hedges and belts.
