Only if you bring your own rifle or shotgun. A visitor from outside Great Britain needs a UK visitor's rifle or shotgun permit, and the application must be made by a sponsor resident in Great Britain. Hendry, Ramsay & Waters acts as your sponsor and submits the application to Police Scotland on your behalf. Police Scotland says a typical application takes up to six weeks to process, so we ask for your details at least six weeks before you travel. The Police Scotland fee is £48 per visitor, or £240 for a group application. You will need a copy of your home firearms licence (European visitors: your European Firearms Pass) or, where you hold neither, a letter of good character from your police or government. Carry the permit with you and declare your guns and permit to UK Border Force when you arrive.

If you would rather not travel with your own guns, the estate provides a rifle and ammunition, or we arrange gun hire and cartridges, and you shoot under the supervision of your stalker or with the shoot under the UK's borrowing exemption. No permit is needed for this, and it is how most of our overseas guests choose to shoot.

Red stags 1 July to 20 October and hinds 21 October to 15 February; roe bucks 1 April to 20 October and does 21 October to 31 March; sika stags 1 July to 20 October; fallow bucks 1 August to 30 April. Grouse 12 August to 10 December; partridge 1 September to 31 January; pheasant 1 October to 1 February; woodcock 1 September to 31 January.

Stalking is priced per stag or per outing with a daily rate for the stalker; driven birds are priced per bird on the bag you want shown; accommodation and transport are added at the level you choose. If you are bringing your own guns we sponsor your UK visitor's permit (allow six weeks); if not, estate rifles or hire guns are waiting for you, so you can travel light. Many of our American guests combine a stag or a roe buck with a day's driven pheasant or partridge in the same trip.
