Driven Partridge in Spain for American Hunters

No. Every one of our Spanish estates provides guns and cartridges, and the Spanish gun and hunting licences are arranged by Hendry, Ramsay & Waters before you travel as part of the package. Most of our American guests travel without firearms for exactly this reason: no airline paperwork, no customs declaration on either side of the Atlantic, and nothing to carry through Madrid.

Madrid or Seville, depending on the estate. Madrid has non-stop flights from several US cities; Seville is a short connection from Madrid. Estate transport meets your flight and the return transfer is included in the package, so you do not need to hire a car. Los Melonares, for example, is served from Seville. Tell us which estate you are considering and we will confirm the airport before you book flights.

Our Spanish packages are fully inclusive: return transfers from the arrival airport, full board in the estate lodge or a first-class hotel with wines and drinks, transport on the shoot, a loader or secretary for each gun, ammunition, and the Spanish gun and hunting licences. Overage is counted per gun, so each gun pays only for the birds it has shot, not a share of the group’s.

Our programmes are priced in euros and quoted for your party rather than sold from a price list. As a worked example, 1,000 driven partridge over two days at Los Melonares for a team of eight guns costs €66,550 per group, about €8,300 per gun, including all taxes, two nights’ full board in the staffed hacienda, all drinks, return transfers from Seville, ammunition and the Spanish licences. Extra birds are charged per gun at the estate’s overage rate.

The dollar figure follows the exchange rate on the day you pay. As an illustration only, at €1 = US$1.10 that example is roughly US$73,000 per group, or about US$9,100 per gun. Three things set the price of your own trip: the daily bag you want shown (our days start at 300 birds and run to 400 and beyond), the number of guns and the number of days. 1 October to 31 March. A typical day is four or five drives with tapas after the second drive and lunch at the end of the day, usually in good weather and outdoors.

Yes, and most American parties do. Madrid and Seville both make a fine short break after the shoot, and we are happy to book the hotel nights and transfers so the whole trip is on one itinerary. Some parties combine Spanish partridge with driven pheasant or red stag stalking in Scotland on the same journey; ask us and we will build it around your dates.
