We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers, suppliers, friends and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been a great Season so far, the difficulties of recent years have been pleasingly absent. Guns, estates and humble agents alike have been able to just concentrate on enjoying the Sport. As ever our industry faces challenges and change. Non-toxic shot being perhaps the most significant current issue. We were pleased to see that the recommendations published by the Health and Safety Executive this week suggested a 5 year transition period from lead to compulsory use of non-toxic shot for game and clay pigeon shooting. The significant endeavours of the cartridge manufactures have already resulted in a much extended breadth and quality of alternative ammunition and with a further 5 years to go we should see further sizable improvements. We are great proponents of the merits of eating game and we were very happy to support one of the shoots that we use which has been proactive in this area. They levy a very small surcharge per gun and use it to fund the Country Food Trust to process the birds that are shot on their estate, turn them into meals and distribute these to foodbanks. A thoroughly good idea to our minds. There are actually 6 weeks of the UK Season remaining. We are sold out for individual pegs, though we could accommodate complete teams who feel up to the challenge of January Scottish birds.
