The Season is Upon Us
August the 12 th has come and gone, our season and hopefully yours is underway. We have enjoyed a cracking start with some tremendous walked-up grouse. We have heard a lot about moors having to cancel driven days but we have been fortunate enough to have plentiful grouse. Not only will we fulfil our original programme but we’ve let the odd extra day as well. As you read this the Partridge season will be underway and the Pheasants are just around the corner. Demand is as strong as ever. With fewer shoots operating this year and many of those that are operating having put down fewer birds, it remains our view that quality shooting will be under supplied this season. We understand the mindset that says “wait” given the uncertainty, we also understand the view that believes there may be cheaper “cancellation based” shooting later in the season. In our opinion discerning guns are well advised to secure opportunities now. A word on cancellations. We have worked hard with our suppliers over the last five months to compile Terms and Conditions that reflect the current environment. We understand that individuals and teams are reluctant to commit as far in advance as normal. We also understand that shoots need some support to encourage them to make their commitments. Therefore, we have in general, struck what we believe is a fundamentally fair COVID cancellation policy. We have agreed with the majority of our shooting suppliers, both UK and Internationally, that if a day is cancelled for COVID related reasons they and we will offer to roll the date to the following season. In some instances there may be the loss of an element, but by no means all, of the fees. This has been welcomed by guns, who whether UK or internationally based, have paid their deposits with confidence.
Availability
Given how variable and in many cases disappointing this year’s grouse have been we are delighted to have managed to secure an additional driven grouse day in Perthshire. The moor has been shooting well this season. The topography results in dramatic memorable scenery and makes for thoroughly sporting birds. If you have had a day cancelled or just fancy another day on the moor – who wouldn’t? – why not take this day. 60 brace for an 8 or 9 gun line on the 5 th October. One late September walked up grouse day is still available. 20 brace for a team of 4 -6 guns on a rarely available very well invested moor. There is a healthy population of grouse on the moor. The terrain is relatively easy going, considering it’s a moor. We also have a day for the genuine high bird enthusiasts on a top quality shoot in Angus. Largely pheasants but with some partridges, this 200 bird 10 th December day will see the birds at their best and the guns can expect to be tested. Click here for more details.

The most heavily subscribed offer that we have laid on in the recent past was comprised of fallow cull stalking with accommodation in the simply fantastic 5 star Kinloch House Hotel. Demand was so strong that we have decided to do it again. Cull stalking is available from late October and excellent value accommodation is available in January and February next year. On the fallow theme, if you want something a little unusual we have secured stalking on a large island in the Tay estuary, there is a healthy population of deer and it’s certainly a little different from a normal outing.
