Deer Stalking
One of the wonders of Scotland is that there isn’t a day in the year when it’s not possible to go stalking for some species of deer. There is always something in Season. Of course, there are times that are better than others and personal ethics play a role as well, but if you want to stalk then Scotland is the place for you. The truth is that the lure of stalking lies not in taking the shot but in the emotional and physical rewards that come from trying to outwit a wild and clever animal in order to get the chance to take a shot. From the feeling that Nature herself is serenading you as dawn breaks on a Summer’s morning Roe Buck hunt, to witnessing the stunning scenery of the autumnal countryside coloured red and gold by the hand of a frost as you seek a rutting Fallow Buck, it grabs at the soul. Maybe it’s the aching beauty of the Highland glen shuddering with the roar of the Red Stag or the sense that the Sika you can hear gently whistling is in fact stalking you not vice versa, perhaps it’s the brutal assault on the person that is the late winter weather in the hills as you pursue the Red Deer Hinds; there is reason enough to go whether you are successful or otherwise. We have expanded our inventory of stalking and we have some really high-quality options covering all four species of deer found in Scotland. We also have some very interesting opportunities for hind stalking especially for the experienced stalker. Don’t forget we also run a series of courses covering an Introductory Level right through to the provision of DMQ 2 Accredited witnesses for both actual evaluation and practice runs. We have secured some excellent stag stalking close to Dalwhinnie / Newtonmore. The ground produces more than its fair share of large stags, there are no additional trophy fees for Royals. There is newly refurbished accommodation on the estate and we have two prime weeks available. We also have spaces for three day blocks of hind stalking on the same ground with accommodation, again for two rifles. We have just concluded our annual February and March trips to Spain for Partridge shooting. What an absolute treat to shoot these wonderful birds in such beautiful surroundings blessed with weather we can only dream of in the UK. It is often said that this is a great way to extend your Season and indeed it is, but it is worth remembering that the Season in Spain starts in October and with the prevailing winds and more seasonal weather in November the shooting then is superb. We have availability throughout the Season at our Estate 45 minutes from Madrid. As we all know the cost of shooting is rising quite sharply in the UK, so when you consider that a price per bird in Madrid of approximately £42 includes all accommodation in a wonderful Lodge on the shoot, all hospitality including alcoholic drinks, all airport transfers and importantly all taxes, the cost of a trip to Spain is remarkably good value. For clients who would like something even more special we have a three-day trip to Seville for a 500 bird day of seriously high spectacular partridges followed by a wild boar Monteria featuring some genuinely large boar. Bird Shooting
We have now re-opened the diaries for the shoots that we represent. As in most years we have close to 100% re-bookings from the clients that shot with us last Season so availability is limited. However, with the success of the two new shoots that we brought onto the roster last year we have decided to increase the number of days available. If you want first class mixed pheasant and partridges in a very pretty and scenic part of Perthshire then we have just the thing for you.
